Planning for growth in Yuma County is on everyone's mind. I have called for unity between the municipalities and the county in planning for future growth and for greater cooperation between these entities. This effort is ongoing and there are currently joint meetings between the county and municipalities' planning staffs to enhance this effort. The 2020 plan is underway and input from the public is important. I encourage everyone to make their views known. Protection of our military installations and military ranges is of vital importance to both Yuma County and our nation. You can be sure this is in the forefront when planning decisions are made. At the same time, the property rights of land owners must be held in high regard to balance the interests of both.
